This is something slightly stupid. A good friend of mine asked me to do a drawing of her pug dog as Frederick the Great as a birthday present (this is something about her originating from Potsdam where Sanssoucie, the castle where he is buried, is located). I hope she likes it.
Otherwise there is lots of commissioned work I am doing at the moment. I am seriously looking forward to do something more personal soon, but i t might take some time….

Pirates Comic
comic, fun, illustration, Uncategorized“Pirat voraus, Käptn Klaus” has finally appeared:
I take this as an opportunity to show one more page and the sketches I did beforehand. Those are an exception because I did the initial sketch digitally, which is because the layout was rather complicated. Normally I prefer ordinary pencil sketches.

Kira and Football
These drawings are part of a second portrait session with Kira. Thanks to her. I started them in the café of the Museum Ludwig and finished them at home.
Today is probably the last time you can make jokes about the world cup. I have a friend who is half Argentine half German, so I wondered what his neutral shirt would look like. The third drawing is basically about what you could wear if you are looking for trouble when visiting a German public viewing. Would have worked even better if Holland had made it to the final. But you could always wear it when visiting a Bayer Leverkusen match (you will have lots of new friends afterwards…..).
By the way, I am not neutral and I would like the German team to win and I like Dutch football (regards to Sander)…
Books and Curses
comic, illustration, sketchThis is an illustration I did for Klett und Balmer, a Swiss school book publisher. Swiss school books are so much cooler than German ones. the motif is an illustration of a curse engraved in a library in a monastery in Barcelona, cursing people who steal books. The curse is quite drastic, as you can guess from the illustration. They chose it to illustrate who valuable books once used to be.
I would like to thank graphic design agency KnowIdea based in Freiburg and Sonja Schäfer for a brilliant cooperation. Unfortunately their homepage is in transition, but anyway:

comic, illustration, sketchIreland Sketches II
illustration, sketchPart II of drawings from my yearlong stay in Dublin in 2007 for a gallery in my sketchbook section. The dark drawing is from Wellington Quay in Dublin. I took some liberties with the houses surrounding the hotel, which indicates that I have finished the drawing at home.
The next drawing is from Glengariff. Many people in Ireland thought I was Scottish (which means my German accent went through some weird metamorphosis), in this case I chatted with a charming old lady from Edinburgh while I made this drawing, who was surprised I was German (“… I .thought you were from Scotland, too”).
The third one is from round the corner where I used to live in Rathmines.
