Asyl in Deutschland- Die Anhörung
comic, film, illustration, UncategorizedYesterday was the premier of Asyl in Deutschland. For which I did the design, direction and most of animation (thanks to Kerstin Unger, Thea Seidler., Meike Teichmann and Daniel Ossio and Fade to Grey). There were lots of people involved, most of them working for free, most notably Philipp Stendebach of Augenschein Film Production whose baby this really was. I am very happy with the result. The film is intended to help asylum seekers to understand the most important part of the whole procedure the personal interview and how to prepare for it. There are versions in 14 different languages.
I guess this is Serbian:
There is a lot of work being done with spreading the news arround. by the way although the whole project was pretty delicate (because of the topic) this was absolutly brilliant because of the enthusiasm and spirit of the people involved.

comic, UncategorizedKlett und Balmer, Die Sprachstarken 9/ Romulus der Große
comic, Dürrenmatt, illustration, Romulus der Große, School Book Illustration Das MorgenessenThis was a comic strip for Klett and Balmer “die Sprachstarken”. It illustrates a famous quip by Friedrich Dürrenmatt in which he defended his usage of Swiss words, after German critics had accused him of using dialect. Basically the Germans think Swiss is a German dialect and the Swiss think it is a separate language. I don´t want to comment on this. Romulus says Morgenessen instead of Frühstück (breakfast), and yells at his servant when he tries to correct him. I guess the play Romulus der Große is much more popular in Switzerland….
By the way I wish the Germans would spend so much diligence and love on their schoolbooks. They really do an amazing job at Klett and Balmer.
Horses
comic, illustration, UncategorizedThis has been a weird week. I have done an illustration test for a children´s book including horses aimed for girls. It very quickly turned out that the job was already gone, but my agent thought it might be a good idea to finish the samples for my portfolio. Lots of work, I am not yet sure if I managed the balance between a little kitsch and something nice.
Next time I will do football right away.
