So I have been back from Paris now for a week, and went to Rome in the meantime. I spend most of the time in Paris on a course about producing animated films in Europe at the Gobelins. We only had the weekends for more touristy stuff and sketching. So here are some of those.

Some of the sketches were from two performances by the Aurore Quartet. I haven’t listen to Gipsy Swing for ages, and I really loved their energy, their violinist and singer is especially great. I like the fact that this music is basically there to make you feel good, and that they really give all they have to entertain the 30 people who happen to be in the pub where they are playing. So it is music for it is own sake, and in a way this real philanthropy. If you happen to be in Paris, check out their website: myspace.com/aurorequartet.

I made the mistake of going to the Louvre last Sunday. It seemed to be full of small Paris Hiltons, who mistook the Louvre as backdrop for their facebook pictures (`… look, it looks that I am touching his ass`). There were millions of them. I am thinking of doing a comic about that, with the very foreseeable end of a Babylonian God which doesn´t want it´s ass to be touched mauling some cheeky American teenagers from the Midwest.

here is my first photo sketch from Paris. O.K. obviously it is something completly different. I have so much stuff to do, that I can´t scan the stuff I did.  There would be a lot to write about that, and I ahd some nice ideas, but it will take some time ( to cut it short France is always pretty inspiring). This could be a title page to the last comic, but it actually is from an invitation to an exhibition with Ruth and Felo in April… It is a kind of homage to Herge I guess. I am afraid me and Steven Spielberg liked the same comics when we were young, for I just heard that he uses the Rackham volumes as the basis for his Mocap- feature film, which sounds like a nightmare…kaeptn

Hello

Uncategorized

Thsi week there is going to be a break. I am in Paris at the Animation sans Frontiere, which I like a lot. The best thing about is are my fellow participents… Next week there are probably going to be lots of drawings from French cafes and so on, but at the moment there is no scanner available.
One word to pirates. The last post was really an excuse to draw a ship, because I read a book about pirates shortly before I did that comic. I think the discrepancy between image and reality is nowhere as big as with them. Basically all of them where just very ordinary criminals, and like with most criminals you are pretty happy if you can avoid meeting one. So I lied. But I like ships…..

Hi

I didn´t finish the comic strip I was working on. I hope to finish it in the course of next week. It deals with my new experience of carnival. To cut it prettty short, carnival seems to be fun, but my three beer rule is kind of counterproductive. It needs more then that . So I will have one year to decide what to do next time. So here is a slightly older comic. I wasn´t completly satisfied with it, but I guess it is O.K. arbeitslosechipslang_1arbeitslosechipslang_2arbeitslosechipslang_3
