This has been a weird week. I have done an illustration test for a children´s book including horses aimed for girls. It very quickly turned out that the job was already gone, but my agent thought it might be a good idea to finish the samples for my portfolio. Lots of work, I am not yet sure if I managed the balance between a little kitsch and something nice.
Next time I will do football right away.

Here is one more drawing from my sketchbook, I did in November. The slightly chaotic version black and white version is the original one, the lighter colored was work in progress (retrospectively I could have finished at that point). I drew it while waiting for a friend outside a bar in Pisa.

…. yes it is, although looking outside my window (in Cologne) suggests it is already spring. Last week I finally made my own Christmas Cards. This is basically the result of taking the term Christmas Card literally. This was so much work I am saving the rest of this card for another post, but here are the sketches and the orignal drawing.

Today I am working on my Christmas card. Christmas cards are always hard because contriving something new is really hard. This not my card, but something I did for Heipha (a pharmaceutical company belonging to Merck) in summer. the absurd thing about Christmas cards is that you get these jobs in august. I should have made my personal card back then, too…..
