I drew this a few days ago. Like almost every cartoon, reality is much more complex. I think no one thinks that Friedrich Merz is a Nazi, but nonetheless I found the events around his 5 point plan disturbing. It is weird he pretended that immediate action was inevitable, by pressing a plan through German parliament that is very likely not compatible with EU law and not realizable- you can already legally send criminal immigrants back to their countries of origin, but their countries won´t take them back.

I guess the real reason why he did it is to pressure future coalition partners, by suggesting that he is willing to find majorities with the far right if he deems it necessary. And it is a show to suggest strength and leaf from Donald Trumps playbook. And honestly, no one needs more Donald Dump right now. In all I think it is a smokescreen for hsi neoliberal politics to distract people from what their actually voting for. And I am already fed up with Friedrich Merz and he isn’t chancellor yet
